Cancer: The external manifestation of internal negativity and non-orthodox approach to treatment
Published: 30/04/2010 by Adeleye R. Afonja MD
Although cancer has been deeply and extensively studied and rational explanations have been offered as the basis of its development, one major underlying factor that is yet to be fully elucidated is the complex role played by the spirituality (or lack of) of the person that is afflicted. I am of the opinion that the sum total of the positive and negative energies that are at play in any individual could serve as the initiator of complex chemical and physical changes with resulting genetic mutations / destructions which ultimately lead to cancer formation. Some of these assertions cannot be simply proven in the laboratory and it is therefore expected that the acceptance by the less spiritually-endowed individuals is an uphill task. Does Karma play any roles? Cancer is associated with significant form of depression and these points being raised are not meant to make anyone with cancer feel guilty but rather to create an insight into the possibilities of alternative therapies which abound worldwide. The therapy of choice depends on the cultural beliefs of the individual and of course, recommendations by previous patients. How to track and prove the veracity of the claims of individuals become a problem, however. No two individuals are exactly the same, genetically (?cloning). It is therefore reasonable to think that the results of these therapeutic approaches by different people may not be the same or comparable. 'Doses' and 'length' of treatment are also difficult to ascertain and at best, subjective. Ditto results!
How should newly diagnosed cancer patients go about trying to solve the myriads of problems
that they are suddenly confronted with?
Future discussions will address these issues.
